Meet Ian 'SECTOR' Ashton
Ian SECTOR Ashton is a 27-year-old up-and-coming rapper and recording artist with a new album due out soon.
A Long Island native, he has always been captivated by words and began writing
poetry at the age of six. By middle school, he was writing song lyrics and at 14, he
was rapping in his school’s lunchroom, as his classmates created beats by banging
on tables while listening to him.
At 17, SECTOR began working in the studio and recorded his first song, “The Big
Statement” in 2003. A year later, his first album, “My Life,” was released.
Since then, SECTOR has released three follow up albums, “Rise to Power”, “Against Your Wishes,” and “The Underdawg,”. His songs are a mix of reflective beats, such as “The Come-Up,” which chronicles his
journey as a rapper, and party anthems, including “Beautiful Life” and “Sunglasses & Advil”, which is currently tearing through the club scene.
“My life is my main influence,” he says. “I want people to feel me as well as party
with me.”
Bringing his music to audiences all over New York, SECTOR performs at nightclubs,
bars and college shows in Long Island, New York City, and various other cities, gaining a following and
creating a buzz along the way.
He aspires to be a heavy hitter in the hip-hop industry and his professional
influences include DMX, A Tribe Called Quest, Jay-Z, Nas and Notorious B.I.G just to name a few.
“My ultimate goal is to reach people through my music,” he says. “I want to show the
world who I am – a fun, lively, energetic, smooth individual.”
